Vapour Recovery

DFS analyses the quality and contamination levels in conventional diesel and petrol fuels as well as alternative fuels including biodiesels and ethanol. We specialise in Fuel Quality Sampling to CBD buildings, large shopping centres, and the likes which have back up generators. Due to the holding of great volumes for extended periods,the stored fuel will darken due to oxidation, repolymerization and agglomeration of certain components. The darkening is accompanied by the formation of sediment that plugs filters and causes poor combustion. Gums and sediments in the fuel that develop over time do not burn in the engine very well, this can lead to carbon and soot deposits on injectors and other combustion surfaces which may lead to more serious problems.

Petrol vapour contains toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which contribute to localised and regional-wide (ground-level ozone) air pollution. Vapour recovery at petrol service stations provides immediate health protection benefits by reducing personal exposure to toxic substances in petrol vapours like benzene.

DFS utilise the latest technology in all stages of vapour recovery. Stage 1 Vapour Recovery (VR1) captures the vapour displaced from underground storage tanks as the tanks are filled by road tankers. The installation of Stage 2 Vapour Recovery (VR2) controls the emissions from filling vehicletanks.
